Road and Path between Bowen Rd, Waterways Estate and Braeside Park

AGRA Committee member Tamsin Bearsley and Ken Carney along with local residents lead by Paul Munro attended the final council meeting to discuss Bowen Road (west end) on April the 22nd. Below is a brief summary taken by Tamsin of the main points.

Mark Juler (COK) presented the Traffic Study and it was noted that traffic counts had not risen significantly and that the majority of traffic was adhering to the speed limits. Council undertook to review pedestrian crossings points and give way signs at the middle speed hump, the opening onto Wells road and the crossing point that links pedestrians to Bowen Parkway from Pacific Drive. Paul Munro raised a safety concern over the barriers not going far enough past the bridge and the drop being significant - Mark Juler agreed to review.

Landscape Works; The initial landscape works have been completed. A query about the blackened/purple grass strips by the side of Bowen Parkway was explained as dye so the council/developers can tell which areas have had weed poisoning.

Drain; The open drain will be replaced with an underground drain that will link into the drain systems. The works have been approved conditional on another frog survey taking place.

Final Comments; the community committee acknowledged that the Bowen Parkway has improved the amenity and facilities for the majority of residents in the local area.

It was suggested, that for the final few action items, an onsite meeting may be the best way to quickly decide on next steps. Mark Juler acknowledged that this was a good idea but did not commit to this. Mark Juler committed that council will respond to Paul Munro directly on a number of concerns he has previously raised that have not been addressed by council or Paul would like more information about.

Hopefully most key matters have now been resolved for local residents.
