MPF - Dingley Freeways - and Traffic Reduction Wells Road
As reported in our last Newsletter AGRA is reviewing our case for construction of the MPF Extension to be submitted to the Minister, local MP's and candidates for the coming state and federal elections. Remember the Labor Party promised to complete construction of this Freeway by the end of 2009. It has not. The freeway extension would have and will overcome all of the traffic issues we have in our local region, not just in Aspendale Gardens.
As reported earlier AGRA have some concerns with Council's decision to investigate an alternative route for the Dingley By-Pass. Councillor Trevor Shewan stated he wants to explore alternate routes for the Dingley By-Pass but still supports the need for the Dingley By-Pass and reconfirmed his pre election commitment to promote completion of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway Extension. The alternate route to explore for the Dingley By-Pass is Heatherton Road and Old Dandenong Road. Councillor Donna Bauer has concerns about this alternate route because old Dandenong Road is rural and Heatherton Road is at capacity. Donna stated she is also an advocate of the Dingley By-pass and MPF. Councillor John Ronke is on record his commitment to support and promote completion of the Dingley/MPF Freeway System.
AGRA has received some traffic volume statistics in relation to the impact of traffic volumes in our region resulting from the opening of the Eastlink Tollway. These figures are of concern however we are going to clarify the numbers before accepting and analysing them.
