Mordialloc Creek, Screening Industry between Bowen Rd & Governor Rd & Extension of Waterways:
The president has previously chased Council to update us on the COK position and the response has that there is no activity to report because the developers are doing nothing. AGRA also wrote to the Team Leader Waterway Planning at Melbourne Water seeking an update. We have not yet received a reply to that letter. AGRA were given a copy of an advertisement supplied by a member of the Yammerbook Committee about a planned industrial development alongside the Creek. As a result AGRA has written to Council as follows;
As you can see AGRA has been sent a copy of this advertised industrial subdivision on land abutting Mordialloc Creek. Please access the website through the address below.
This land abuts and is part of the area where Melbourne Water plans to introduce a Waterways type wetland. Also it is the same area where AGRA and the Yammerbook Committee has been in serious long term discussions with Council and Melbourne Water over many years with our request to include raised earth barriers along the industrial side of the Mordialloc Creek development including plantations to shield any factory development.
We assume that Council and Melbourne Water are aware of this planned subdivision. We ask if the sellers are aware that discussions have taken place between the COK, Melbourne Water and the local community as outlined above and also have the sellers given assurance that purchasers will be aware of these special needs when finalising planning alongside the Creek?
I must say it looks like the owners are already underway with lot plans to sell from so can you confirm what conditions council have put on the planning aspects of the development to meet community needs and also why this has come out of left field without any prior advice by MW or the COK to AGRA?
Council have acknowledged receipt of our email and will respond soon. Our local Councillors Donna Bauer and Trevor Shewan have also agreed to follow up to ensure that the developers have plans for an earth bank on the eastern side of the creek to screen the factories. Our objective is to make sure that after all the work and contact AGRA have had with Council and Melbourne Water that this development must not slip through the system without provision for visual pollution barriers being included in the development. We await the report from council.
Bicycle Path through Edithvale North Wetland;
The bike route from Edithvale Road thru to Nurten Parade needs maintenance/upgrade. We believe it is the Council budget. We have asked all three South Ward Councillors to follow up so that the project will be completed in the 2010 - 2011 financial year
Beautifying Wells Road as an entrance to Aspendale Gardens and the City of Kingston;
This project will be an entrance to the COK and will benefit all residents and ratepayers. It is a long term project at the investigative stage that will initially require a lot of research and communication with key players such as Council and Vic Roads. We have been offered the services of a qualified person who is happy to prepare a concept plan for AGRA. We have asked our local Councillors to alert Council that we would like a provision made in the 3 year plan in case funds are needed at that point in time. It may well be that should the project be viable developments may be able to come from the normal council planting budget.
