I have been listening to the discussions regarding the Bowen Rd. linkage of Waterways to Aspendale Gardens. I have just finished building in Waterways and am greatly looking forward to the link. I don’t know what the fuss is about, it’s not like it is a new idea. What did those residents think was going to happen with the vacant land behind their houses? As far as the environment goes, the road is nearly complete and passes over predominantly unused grassland, kept that way for many years with this exact development in mind. In my view, if those residents didn’t know this was coming or even already approved, it is their own fault for not researching the issue properly. More positively, the link will bring new business to Aspendale Gardens traders, new friends to the residents and new children to the primary school due to the new ability to walk, drive or cycle directly from Waterways to Aspendale Gardens.

Please stop supporting the environmental destruction about to take place because of the Bowen Road development (whose approval was apparently issued in 1990). It is now 2009 and many things have changed since approval was granted. This development is no longer appropriate for the area or its inhabitants despite the cash.

Good afternoon, My wife and I are avid readers of each edition of the AGRA news. We try and keep up to date on road infrastructure within our neighbourhood. Obviously we take a keen interest in what each politician says about the MPF and the issues pertaining to Wells Road usage. The latest issue is the extension of Bowen Road from the Waterways through to Wells Road. Our property backs onto Bowen Road and whilst it is always a concern when your own back yard backs onto a thorough fare, the bigger issue in the total lack of thinking (or care) by Vic Roads to consider the greater repercussion that having traffic trying to enter Wells Road without any form of traffic signals or safety measure. (That will all change when somebody gets killed of course – or will it..?) I read with interest the issue pertaining to people trying to “lane shift” as soon as they enter Wells Road as they make there way to the Aspendale Gardens Shopping Centre (via Nurten Parade), not to mention the amount of “U” turn traffic as people wish to change to a north bound heading. I fail to understand why this road extension from Waterways through to Wells Road has not considered the usage of Pacific Drive. Presently Pacific Drive is a dead end with a timber fence. If the fence was pulled down I see no reason why Bowen Road cannot “run into” Pacific Drive with the traffic flow moving up to the round about at Royal Palms Boulevard and make use of the lights at the intersection of Wells Road; Nurten Parade and Royal Palms Boulevard. My way of thinking is that Pacific Drive is the main thorough fare for the Royal Palms Estate. Why wouldn’t you use this established piece of infrastructure to join with the Waterways? This would also give the residents of Royal Palms easier access to the Waterways Estate. I may sound a little “left of centre” however wouldn’t it save the cost of extending Bowen Road an extra (approx) 150 metres; alleviate the traffic issue of people trying to enter Wells Road (and lane change) and makes use current traffic controls that are in place at the end of Royal Palms Boulevard? To me, this is purely common sense. This would be a cheaper and safer option for all concerned....or is this option just too obvious to make sense.

AGRA 3-5 year plan. Extend MP fwy to Governor Rd to reduce traffic on Wells Rd. 4 lanes for Governor Rd and traffic lights at Governor and Boundary Rd. A sign to be installed on MP fwy approaching Springvale Rd telling truck drivers not use exhaust brakes. Speed and red light cameras on Wells Rd Aspendale Gardens.

Hello, Has anyone considered having nicer signs put up leading into Aspendale Gardens than the ones which are currently there. I would like one which has a picture of the wetlands. I think the signs are important and l enjoy the feeling of almost being home when l see them. Thanks Carolyn Gray

I would appreciate if you take the traffic conngestion issue on wells road with appropriate authorities. Since last four weeks left turn on to wells road towards Mordialloc station side has been prohibited during morning peak time. This has rsulted in wells road traffic between springvale road and boundary road really getting congested. I live in Brnagan drive and it is taking me 20 minutes during morning peak hour to reach weels road governer road roundabout. In a suburban road it is taking 20 minutes to travel 2 kms. If something can be done to ease the travelling time it will save everybody who travels along wells road valuable time. If AGRA can do something to take this issue with apporopriate authorities I will appreciate it. Regards, Sri Sarma 9587 1890
